SYPNOPSIS
Philadelphia meets all Federal drinking water standards. But one study shows evidence that certain disease-causing microbes are getting through the city's treatment system. I visited the main drinking water plant to investigate. I also visited an innovative electric power plant in downtown Philadelphia. There, new technologies for capturing waste heat increase power production efficiency. Proponents say it such equipment can triple power-plant efficiency, dramatically reducing carbon dioxide emissions.
